Meet Razan

Razan loved shooting short videos with her mobile phone when she was a child. Passionate about storytelling and cinema, Razan became set on building a career as a film director.

As she grew older, Razan struggled to find a community to share this art with. Then she discovered Ithra Film Society—an initiative founded by Aramco’s King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture (Ithra)—which connects filmmakers in Saudi Arabia and provides them with the tools to hone their craft.

Building on this experience, she directed A Breath, which was nominated as Best Student Film at the 2020 Saudi Film Festival. Razan is part of a growing community of women filmmakers in Saudi Arabia, and aspires to make films that impact people.
